Why did mainline media dump comments now?

Seems like remaining media outlets (NYTimes. WAPO, Politico, etc) got rid of all user comments recently. Anyone know why? Too much heat before the election?

Most of them dropped the comments sections a while ago. It has become a national pastime to get into pissing wars and spew whatever in comments sections. That means WAPO, YAHOO, etc. have to pay people to moderate them, respond to people reporting others, and pay people to code the software for dirty word searches etc. The comments sections aren't bringing them in revenue that offsets the costs of running them. Therefore, they just eliminate them. My opinion anyway.

Only Fox News has kept the comments.

The Liberal shills just got rid of theirs because THE People were using it to counter the Media Lies and Propaganda.

WAPO still has them, although they are getting as bad as Breitbart, et al. Don't think NYT ever did. Not sure about the others.

Really, the comments section is just another way for sheep to bleet in unison. Look at OAN.
