MANASSAS, Va. -- Fire officials said they are investigating an acid bottle bomb incident in Manassas.
Officials said that on Monday night, an acid bottle bomb was thrown into the rear yard of a townhouse in the 9200 block of Taney Road in the Georgetown South area of the city.
The device exploded but did not cause damage to the property, officials said
A female resident of the townhouse was in the yard at the time and was not injured.
Officials said the explosion from an acid bottle bomb, also known as a "MacGyver bomb," is capable of inflicting serious injury and property damage.
