Snyder did many things wrong, but it was Derek Chauvin who killed the Redskins. The George Floyd killing created a tsunami that flooded any hopes of keeping the Redskin name.

With all due respect to the brave black American patriots who were Tuskegee Airmen and were called Redtails because of their red painted rudders . They had a tremendous record escorting US bombers over Europe in heavy German fighter filled skies. Many pilots and crews were filled with joy seeing a Redtail fighter pull up on the wing as it ment they were going to get back to base safe.
Never the less they were a military unit , the great majority of the Redskins players never served , it is a case of misplacing the valor of WW2 veterans to put that name on a football team. Also not all members of the team are black

I agree with others "do not give up the name", however I'm not the owner and the owner said the name is "already removed"
on the other hand the owner didn't state a new name and by AFL/NFL rules i think it's not allowed to say "we are not the redskins" unless one has successfully approached the commission with a name and a guarantee there will be no confision (ie, any new jerseys will be shown, so that they are not part of some subversion activity)

One of the greatest games ever played at RFK Stadium. The 1982 NFC Championship Game 31-17 Redskins defeated Dallas.
I was there, and that sack Dexter Manley put on Danny White was right in front of me. Danny White's career was not the same after that hit.
Snyder killed the Redskins years ago, so who cares.

Maybe they're better off not having a team name for now, especially after the bombshell which dropped yesterday. We knew something was up when their play-by-play announcer abruptly retired less than two weeks before training camp begins.
Dan Snyder will have to sell the team. It's not a question of if, but when, and the sooner the better.

If Snyder sells the team there may be a chance to establish a new fan base.
Perhaps Snyder thinks people will support a losing team that has been stripped of it's identity.
Not much of a chance of that as long as he is involved.

Covering up the seats won't work. The team needs butts in the seats to make money, at least over the long haul. I doubt they'll have many fans in attendance this season due to COVID-19, but that's not a long-term plan.
Even if Dan Snyder didn't engage in inappropriate behavior, he'll be seen as enabling a toxic workplace culture. He'll have no choice but to sell the team. Hopefully the new owners can turn this franchise around and make whatever they're called winners again.
