In 1861 most people in the north were not willing to fight to abolish slavery, and even among abolitionists there was a view that the secession of the southern states was a good thing for removing so many slaves and slave owners from the United States. Then at Jefferson Davis's direction Beauregard opened fire on Union troops holding Fort Sumter. With this one act southerners created in the north a movement for going to war to beat the shit out of those arrogant southern slave owners.

Victors write history... so it was the Civil War.

I’m bored of hearing that Jackson was bad because he took land from Indians or Lincoln was bad because he whipped the plantation owners.

Win a war, then you can name it.

To Confederate Generals by the consent of the Union in southern states after the war , and it was the US that named the US Army forts after the Confederate's in respect for their honor valor and devotion to their states which are states of the United States and the Confederates veterans of the United States

Most the bases were named decades after, it wasn’t an olive branch extended in the wake of the war. Regardless, if the US names something then they can rename it.

In my personal opinion the Army would stand to benefit with an installation named after Chesty Puller or Gunny Hathcock.

This country has no shortage of war heroes, I have never understood why southern generals are so over represented by statues streets and bases. Only explanation is a bunch of snowflakes freak out anytime you try and rename anything.

This is incorrect
Maybe try to learn history before getting hysterical about names and statues
