This new tax is going to raise over a billion dollars a year to support our roads. The good thing about fuel taxes is that the idiots who drive big cars or pickup trucks get to pay more than the responsible citizens who drive fuel efficient vehicles do.

No, thats fucking stupid. It still costs me 12.6 MORE cents per gallon regardless if I drive a Toyota Prius or an a Ford Super Duty F350 pickup truck. It's not like fuel efficent vehicles are exempted from the tax.

Let's say both drive 25,000 miles a year:
Prius - Average 50 miles / Gallon - Annual is 500 Gallons
500 Gallons @ 12.5 cents is: $62.50 to help build roads
F350 Pickup - Average 20 miles / Gallon - Annual is 1250 Gallons
1250 Gallons @ 12.5 cents is: $156.25 to help build roads
Let's say both drive 25,000 miles a year:

No you stated that "thing about fuel taxes is that the idiots who drive big cars or pickup trucks GET TO PAY MORE than the responsible citizens who drive fuel efficent vehicles do". The fuel tax increase is 12.6 cents per gallon. You are not paying more tax per gallon because you drive a vehicle that is less fuel efficent.

Taxes went up, my pay is frozen. Worked through COVID19, risking my health and families health. Not an extra penny or hour of leave while the majority of other workers sat at home and stole a pay check. Other areas got hazard pay, we got the middle finger. Reap what you sow, in a few short years, no one competent will be left. Reap what you sow, YOU voted them, now deal with the consequences.
