Indoor shooting ranges in Fairfax

There simply aren't enough. Sharpshooters is too crowded and NRA is too far.

Anybody know why there aren't more?

Could a shooting range that did not sell guns survive economically?

In Texas there were some private "indoor club ranges" that were not manned; members just showed up and self-policed.

Could one of these work I. Fairfax?

There's Silver Eagle and blue ridge.

You can also shoot the primer only .22lr in your basement provided you sound insulate or live on a 5 acre lot. Remember to vent the air, because it's got a lot of lead in it.

You can not fire a gun in Fairfax county in or outside of a dwelling.

Also if a gun discharged with more than one person present in Fairfax county it is an automatic 10 days in jail.

You could have gone to the indoor range by Dawsons in Annandale or Clark Bros, Or go out to "The Country" and find a place to shoot. No "Country" left today, but Clark Bros is still there a old weekend fav of mine. Then theres "The Range" on Rt 1 down Stafford about 6 miles north of Fredricksburg" Its 25 yards indoor. There was a nice place Shooters Paridise in woodbridge, Sadly it burned about 8 years back. So you got the first two, NRA, Blue Ridge in Chantilly AKA "The Dungeon" due to the smoke . S.S and the others already stated in the thread. S.S is not too bad if its not a weekend during the day.

Okay, Dudley Do Right. I think the whole point is not to get caught, like visiting a backpage escort. One of the uses of the primer only .22lr is to shoot it in a well sound insulated basement. If I had more land, I would probably try it, but sadly I live on only .20 acre and my neighbors would call the cops.

I agree with the right to carry and bear arms but you don't need a gun. Bullets go up and come down.

They also go through walls and ricochet.

Hell you can get killed by ricochets at shooting ranges too. Happens all the time but kept secret.

By the way That don't look like a range, it look like they found some secluded place to shoot at something hard. The range will control targets and type of ammo being used. Indoor ranges don't allow steel shot and steel plate targets. Ricochets do happen but it is not a secret.

The real secret is Magnum never been to a range or have a gun.

My shooting partner had shrapnel ricochet back into his fact at Blue Ridge. Fortunately it was tiny or it was tiny shrapnel from somebody Else. We were using factory FN 5.7 ammo shot out of a 16" AR-57 barrel. It happens.

I would suspect somebody was shooting some frangible .223 shit like FIOCCHI. I never been to blue ridge indoor but I would ban frangible, foreign steel jacketed, and penetrator XM855. Then some folks like shooting at the range hardware (target clips) rather than the target.

In the video that was posted, the guy was probably using XM855 which has steel core on a steel/gong or hard target and he was less than 100 yds (crazy). He was asking for it and got it. I love XM855 but it was designed for out beyond 200yrds. Worst part of a range is you got to watch the folks out there shooting anything and everything. If see something that you think is not safe report at once. Those private spots are worst when they want shoot at car engines blocks, anvils, big rocks and make a you-tube videos. Good thing in this video the shooter (dumbass) and camera guy learned a good lesson and nobody else was hurt.

There is no way I. Hell I would bring a firearm into or through fairfax county. We treat it like DC.it may allegedly be "legal" to carry and possess in fairfax county. Get pulled over, announce your weapon and see how "free" you really are. The cops there are extremely crooked and don't recognize or respect the constitution at all. I would come out to warrenton or Winchester to shoot. More gun friendly.

Thanks for sharing, would love to have 100 yarder indoor in Virginia. You can stretch out your rifles and sight them.

Hope they have good ventilation. Overt time an indoor can be hazardous to your health from the powder fumes and vaporized copper.
