I cant tell you how many jobs us local contractors loose because you dual income 2% earners decide to save a few dollars on your $800,00 homes and hire a Latino for half the price. Really think they're legal? You don't ask and you don't care. Means more mone for that new beamer or that European vacation. If I didn't have to pay taxes, my workers compensation insurance, liability insurance, 940, 941, state taxes, federal taxes, county taxes, gross receipt taxes, licence fee, corporate fee, vacation days, holidays, maybe I could charge half too. And after all that, I still have to pay corporate and personal income tax. So who's responsible for all the illeagle immigrants, the workers feeding their families, or the people hiring them? Good luck with that uninspected substandard work if your house catches fire. Chances are your insurance company will figure it out and when you can't show them a signed off work permit, see how much they cover. Yes, they do that. When I moved here in the late 80's many of the manual labor/construction jobs were filled by dudes from West Virginia. All the old motels on Rt. 50 and Rt. 29 would be booked during the week by these guys, then the would go home to WV on the weekends. Now I guess the are all collecting unemployment checks. Sad.

I'm the son of one of those guys. My father came here, son of immigrants, served on Korea, got a master's degree using the GI bill and working at GWU. He settled in Arlington. I have learned my trades paying taxes, following the rules, and working hard. I have no problems with immigrants trying to better teir situation through hard work, as most of them do. It's the new democrats that insist on allowing them to do it outside the lew, having no rules, and paying nothimg back to the society that helps them in yhe way of taxes. And yes, my dad was a democrate. But not one of these new breed liberal's wanting to be fair to one group at the expense of another.

You can't stay in business long as a fly-by-night law-ignoring shop. Minority-owned personal and home services companies prosper because they provide quality services at lower prices.
