There's a new Mexican restaurant in Alexandria.
Tres Hermanas opened Tuesday afternoon in the former Mango Mike's location, at 4580 Duke St. in Alexandria. The restaurant is owned by Mike Anderson, who ran Mango Mike's for 20 years before closing it in December. He owns four other restaurants in Alexandria as well as an eatery in Bethany Beach, Del.
The name for the restaurant was inspired by Mike Anderson's three daughters, according to a recent story in Northern Virginia magazine. He reportedly has a new five-year lease on the Duke Street building.
On the menu of Tres Hermanas: Fajitas, burritos, nachos, salads, tacos and more. Happy hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. each day in the restaurant's cantina.
Tres Hermanas is the sixth restaurant owned by the Anderson family; the others are Sweet Fire Donna's in Alexandria's Carlyle neighborhood, the sushi bar, Holy Cow and Pork Barrel BBQ all in Alexandria's Del Ray community and Mango's Ocean Front in Bethany Beach.
