RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- We've all been waiting for what seems like forever for Metro's Silver Line to open.

If you're antsy and ready to ride, why not be among the first passengers on the new line?

Metro announced Wednesday that it will randomly select 10 lucky winners to participate in the July 26 grand opening ceremony and ride on the first Silver Line train.

Each winner and a guest will receive reserved seating at the opening event, a ride on the first train, and an unlimited Metrorail one-day pass for travel to and from the inaugural activities, according to Metro.

To enter the sweepstakes, visit silverlinemetro.com/newsletter and sign up for Metro's free weekly Silver Bulletin e-newsletter. For official rules or alternate means of entry, visit silverlinemetro.com.

Metro expects to announce additional details about the opening ceremony next week

Any survivors will receive a second free pass good for the next day that the trains are functioning on the silver line.

I'm excited because I will use it. Much nicer than queuing up for a bus, plus better hours of operation.
