Woman Pushing Stroller Struck by Vehicle at Glebe and Commonwealth

Woman sustained serious injuries, police say. The child appears to be uninjured.

A woman was struck by a vehicle Tuesday at a local intersection and sent to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Alexandria Police.

Police are investigating the two-vehicle collision Tuesday at the intersection of Glebe Road and Commonwealth Avenue.

Alexandria Police sent a message out about the collision on their Facebook page at about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman was pushing a stroller when she was struck, after one of the vehicles ran off the road, according to police. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The child appears to be uninjured.

There may be road closures while the accident scene in investigated.

Was she jaywalking? Pushing a stroller sometimes gives people the impression their bundle of joy has priority.

If anyone had bothered to read the article...

She was _AT_ the intersection, not _IN_ the intersection. So yeah, this appears to be an innocent mother that was at the wrong place at the wrong time when some driver plowed into her and her baby.
