County schools receive nine portable classrooms from business partner
Fairfax County schools received a donation of nine portable classrooms to support schools during renovations.
Of the trailers, four will go to Forestville Elementary in Great Falls, four to Keene Mill Elementary in Springfield and one to Langley High School in McLean. The trailers will provide extra space for students while schools undergo upcoming renovations.
Bechtel Corporation donated the portable classrooms, valued at $120,000, to the county school system.
“This is a generous donation that will help save FCPS money and provide needed portable classrooms during renovation,” says Jeff Platenberg, FCPS assistant superintendent for facilities and transportation services. “We are grateful that Bechtel is continuing to support our students and schools beyond its formal business partnership with Lake Anne Elementary.”
The engineering and construction company was recently named the school system’s 2014 Business Partner of the Year for its work with Lake Anne Elementary, which sits near the company’s Reston office. At Lake Anne, Bechtel employees work one-on-one with students and donates school supplies and clothing to families, among other projects.
