FCPS Boundary change & DISHONEST BRABRAND

In School Board meetings Brabrand is very clear that he wants to use the "One Fairfax Lens" to redistrict students, but in his video to parents Brabrand NEVER mentions the "One Fairfax Lens." Why?

Why didn't Brabrand tell the parents about the "One Fairfax Lens?"

Why didn't Brabrand tell parents that the school board has been actively looking to change school boundaries based on "socioeconomic and/or racial characteristics" of the students?

The FCPS school board & Brabrand were caught trying to quietly push something through that they knew the community didn't want. And now that it's been made public Brabrand is misrepresenting what they were doing.

FCPS Board is determined to ruin what was a great school system. I have never seen a school board that wastes so much time and money on initiatives that don't help give ALL students a basic education.

They've already fed up some FCHS with their demographics, why not spread it out to the better schools? I guess this is their logic.

Don’t care and you all should not waste your time if they want to change the boundaries they will ! fcps they will pretend to want your input ( because it’s polite to ask ) but they will do it anyway so just roll with it or move . End of story .

I applaud what FCPS is doing. The time is long overdue. The majority of students in the system want an education. There is a small minority whom despite given an opportunity to become educated in FCPS, simply do not want an education of any kind.

I support any initiative that puts the kids who want to learn over there with the resources they need and puts the knuckleheads who are disruptive to others' education over here. I'm all for patience and allowing kids to come to terms with their education at their own pace. But, there are some kids you just can't reach. It's time they are indeed left behind.

37 years of teaching have taught me that education is simply not for everyone. There is plenty of room in the world for uneducated people to support themselves. They may have a smaller home or rent and drive an older car and not enjoy the trappings of middle-age but, that is the life they have chosen for themselves.

What do you think is going to happen when radical leftists progs are left in unquestioned charge of our schools and county? Keep voting in the the dems... in about 20 years this area will be like the parts of NY/NJ/PA that everyone is leaving in droves.

Fairfax County has used racial and socio-economic factors for decades in making its boundary determinations. One Fairfax isn't changing that. What One Fairfax is doing is changing HOW racial and socio-economic factors are going to influence its boundary decisions.

In the past the boundaries of certain favored schools were drawn in a way that excluded minority and the less affluent to protect those favored schools. This resulted in the privileged becoming even more privileged and a decline in the quality of the schools not favored as they were forced to deal with higher percentages of those undesirable students. One Fairfax doesn't mean that kids from Route 1 will suddenly be bussed to Langley. It does mean that neighborhoods of minority or less affluent kids that currently attend Herndon or South Lakes may be switched into Langley.
