FAIRFAX, Va., — Fairfax County leaders tried to gain the trust of immigrants by quelling anxieties of deportation and reinforcing their rights, regardless of immigration status, at a public forum Saturday.

It's not like the Fairfax County Police have been doing a bang-up job on policing the illegals that engage in crime anyway. MS 13 etc are basically running amok in the county the way it is.
That being said I do sort of agree that local police should not be responsible for enforcing federal immigration law. As long as they cooperate with ICE that is all I would expect.

With the department giving HUGE raises to command staff again, rumors of DROP going away, supervisors still fucking up and committing criminal offenses that are getting covered up, wait and see how the officers on the road start behaving.

ICE arrests are bad for property values. Some very wealthy and influential people live here that do not want their money f'ed with. They do not have to deal with the illegal issues on a daily basis, so they make sure it is not an "issue".
