PNC Bank Robbed at Arlington Shopping Center Friday

The FBI is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of bank robber.

Authorities are investigating the robbery of a bank in South Arlington on Friday morning, according to a news release from the FBI.

The PNC Bank inside the Giant Food Store at 2901 S. Glebe Road in Arlington's Arlington Ridge Shopping Center was robbed at approximately 10:20 a.m. Friday.

The subject approached the teller and verbally demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the subject exited the front of the store.

The suspect is described as a tall black male, height about 6-feet, 2 inches, and age estimated between 20s and 30s, according to the news release.

The subject was described as a black male with a full beard and mustache and shoulder-length dread locks. He was described as wearing a black and brown suit, black shoes, sunglasses and a black bag across his body.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the bank robber.

The FBI's Washington Field Office and the Arlington County Police Department are investigating this bank robbery and request that anyone with information call the FBI at (202) 278-2000 or report information anonymously to Arlington County Crime Solvers at (866) 411-TIPS (8477).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released photos of the suspect in the robbery at PNC bank inside the North Point Village Center Giant store earlier this week.

A man robbed the branch about 5 p.m. Monday. He told the teller he had a weapon and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Fairfax County Police said.

The suspect is a black male, about 5-foot-7 and 170 lbs., said the FBI. He was wearing a red Nike hooded sweatshirt.

The description of the suspect is very similar to the suspect in the robbery of the Sun Trust branch inside the Safeway at Hunters Woods Village Center on Dec. 15.

There were also two other Reston bank robberies in recent weeks, Nov. 26 at Presidential Bank near the Home Depot and Dec. 10 at the Wells Fargo at Reston Town Center.

FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

What's shocking is that since it's Arlington that they included race data in the description of the perp.

No it's not. The Washington Post regularly omits racial characterisitcs of criminals who are being pursued by police or in describing them after they have been arrested. Here is The Washington Post describing a rapist who is victimizing multiple women at Metro stations:

"Police are looking for a teenager who tried to demand sex from a woman in a Wheaton Metro station parking garage Monday night.

According to Montgomery County police, the 33-year-old woman was getting into her vehicle in the garage when a male teenager holding a gun at his side approached her. Police said that the teen demanded that the woman follow him and perform a sex act."

A teen. Great description and very vivid. He was caught eventually and prior to his arrest CBS used the description given by previous victims (black male, average height). The Post used their story to obscure facts as opposed to reporting them.

We're all very concerned about rape but not concerned enough to describe an actual rapist and protect female Metro riders. Stop stereotyping, dammit!

Yeah. People who see their RE values go up almost 13% in a year have buyer's remorse. The only idiots that have remorse are those who didn't buy there - because they couldn't afford to. Call it envy.

Much of the city is walkable to two Metro stations. A small portion of Vienna is walkable to one Metro station. Falls Church is walkable to stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Vienna is walkable to mattress retailers. LOL!

It has the most sought after school system in the region.

Actually, if you speak Spanish the public schools are great. If your kid is not a native Spanish speaker, you will have to send them to private. Vienna doesn't have that problem.
