Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I was headed east on Franklin Farm Road about 6:45 and saw several fire vehicles headed west, lights&sirens. Thought it was just a car accident, then saw a baby-blue midside sedan (might have been a Chrysler 200, didn't quite take it in) with lights in the grille, a black SUV with lights in the grille, and then a police chopper (that last one was in the air, not on the road!).
Considered turning around to gawk, but that seemed like a bad idea.
Its Eric Holder on his way to General Aviation at Dulles to welcome a plane load full of those poor children who crossed the border last month. Wonder if the kids will be staying at the Ritz in the West End or the Four Seasons in Georgetown?
Passed by and saw a BMW 550 crumpled into tinfoil without a roof or any pillars, several downed trees of 1-2ft diameter, and a helicopter with rotors running ready to take off.

The car ramped up into a tree and was caught there. From what I could see, the lumber wus being used to make the car stable enough to cut the driver out. only 1 person was pulled out of the car, and was medivaced to the hospital.
I scrolled to the bottom of the page to see what was new and the last shot at first looked like a cheesy futuristic car from a bad SF movie--you can hardly see the rotors. Then I looked more closely, realized it was a chopper with the doors open.

Franklin Farm and what? Stonecroft is pretty far from Franklin Farm. Centreville Rd., maybe?

Ah, thanks. I thought it was farther away--I was leaving the plaza at the light when all the vehicles went by me, and couldn't see anything going on off to the right. Must have just been out of view.
Word is (from my old court we just moved from) is that it's the pervert creepy neighbor.
All I have to say is Karma's a bitch. I have no sorrow for this person.

Driver of the BMW had a medical emergency causing him to lose consciousness and leave the roadway. Based on the damage and results, it's believed that when he passed out, his foot pressed on the accelerator. No alcohol is believed to be involved. The patient was initially triaged in the vehicle with basic life saving measures taken prior to extrication. The roof of the vehicle was removed for easier/safer removal of the patient while taking full spinal precautions. The patient was flown to a trauma center based on mechanism of injury and altered mental status. Aeromedical transport was chosen because they were already on scene, and the prolonged extrication. I hope this helps quell some of the speculation and rumors.

For the record, the two aren't mutually exclusive...

We now know who you are and where you live, karma is a bitch - wishing someone dead could result in your own death
