How many of you avoid local events and places with high security presence?

Bag checks and lists of allowed and prohibited items, how often do you avoid local places due to delays created by security checks? Whether this is at the museums at the DC Mall, major league sporting events, and others? Its not that trying to hide something, but the wait in uncomfortable temperatures outside with squirmy children, heat or cold sensitive older persons, or persons with medical or othr conditions who cannot stand long on their feet.
