That's a pretty bad quake 6.9 ,its epicenter or main area here it happened is out in the California desert 150 miles from LA, that's where it was strongest

They say the 1906 San Francisco quake was 7.7 to 7.9 and it devastated the city It hit a bit south on the San Andreas fault
