No more County Stickers Needed?

I heard they are getting rid of the Fairfax County Sticker?? Is this true?? I've know a couple of people who have already taken them off. Just want to be on the save side. I hope so, one less thing i have to worry about.

All the county sticker was ever for was to force payment of personal property taxes. Through modern technology, there are now far cheaper ways to make you pay.

What I want to know is.....are us Fairfaxers going to get hassled in other Va jurisdictions that still have stickers? (ie. get pulled over for it)

The sticker is gone the tax remains. The way they enforce it is to just ask DMV for a list of all vehicles registered in Fairfax. They then compare the list to those who have paid the tax, those that didnt get a nasty note to pay up.
They can also hold up your new license plates if you dont pay.

The Mob has nothing on Fairfax County for shaking money out of people.

The cops are not supposed to be pulling people over just for the missing county stickers since there are several jurisdictions in Virginia that never did have a county sticker. There was the issue of probable cause of a violation. But I have heard it still goes on regardless.

This might be the most disturbing facet of the whole tax sticker issue.

And the way you get into local parks is they look at the county sticker. Now what? Do we all have to pay?

I think a park has a right to charge people for using it if they cannot show they contributed to the taxes it uses, so yes, perhaps you will have to pay.

Same thing at the dump. Maybe you'll have to whip out your registration card showing a Fairfax Co. addy?
