What are future road improvements planned for Reston to alleviate the current traffic gridlock situation around the Metro stations and Reston Parkway?

We'll be taking away a lane to create dedicated bike lanes.

You're Welcome!

By alll means please do. We certainly don't need cars using roads.

Leave your car at home. It’s good for you and good for the planet.

A friend of mine lives in Reston near the Town Center and said the new bike lanes have really fucked up the traffic flow. There is no room to park on the streets and open the car door now as well.

The dedicated bike lanes have narrowed everything. I can assure you those lanes arent used during rush hour and usually just on weekends or after hours for the majority of time. Its utilization doesnt justify the lanes. It does back things up quite a bit.

County spending money for illegals as County Board of Supervisors promote it, something about diversity. Leaves less money for everything else including roads.

Don't know why they put those fucking bike lanes everywhere now. Virtually nobody uses them and it's taken away full lanes that were used before. Only thing that I can think is that there was some requirement tied to Federal money that they got.

It's somebody on the transportation board that lives in Reston and likes to ride his bike. Complete waste of tax dollars. Meanwhile traffic is gridlocked with less lanes to move the overloaded car situation.

Ask the county for the solution to the traffic gridlock.. the answer "Everybody should take public transit or walk." Yeah, good luck hauling groceries, etc... walking, biking or on public transit.

I can assure you, NOBODY, ON THE FAIRFAX COUNTY BOARD TAKES PUBLIC TRANSIT OR BIKES TO WORK.

It's not just Reston. They're doing it all over the county.

Fag lanes.

Might as well start the rickshaws at this point. That's where we're headed. And they will be faster than driving after they finish fucking up traffic.

Absolutely nothing! There was gridlock 20yrs ago when i lived there, i can only imagine it in horror now. But they will shove in some more condos and shops to create more traffic. Enjoy, liberalism is a mental illness.

The same folks complaining about gridlock will be the first to complain about the county wasting money on roads or anything remotely to deal with the problem.

Cars, Trucks, Bikes, Mopeds, Foot traffic, are all equal. They need to share the road like they do in the middle east. We need TRUE diversity. The government will help mandate this, they are working on it as we speak as you can see. Your cars will be so heavily regulated you will have no FUCKING choice but to walk next to the trucks hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahah

I feel the pain that my constituents are going through and I'm going to bring up this topic at the next board meeting
I will request funding for a study to determine what is the best solution for this chaotic mess that exists and affects the great people in Reston. Unfortunately, this years budget is very deep in the red, and we might be able to finance the study in the next fiscal year.
Typically, a study of this sort takes at least a year to do, then the BOS has a meeting in which a representative of VDOT attends and the public is invited and my colleagues pretend to pay attention to whatever the public says.
Then we dicker with the state and/or feds on how it will be funded. After the money is raised, we have to go through a year long bid process for the actual work. After my cousin wins the bid, he usually is ready to begin within 2 years of his submission of said bid.

I would say that the solution will be in place by October 2029.
Your welcome

There are not going to deport illegals. That is what they are not doing.

Tough titties. That is what you get for working in such a place run by liberals.

you DONT NEED a car.

Groceries- peapod (safeway), giant, I think even harris teeter delivers now. So does amazon on pantry items.

Food in general- grubhub.uber eats.

Shopping- same, online.

Laundry- some laundromats/cleaners will come pick up your funky clothes, wash them, and bring them back (or drop it off let them do it retrieve it the next day).

Doctors- welp you might need an uber for that one if your doc is not on a bus line...but there are docs/nurse hotlines/websites out there who do online consultations for simple stuff.

Daycare- depends on where the sitter is, usually people pick those in their own neighborhood anyway.

The plan is to widen Reston Parkway until South Lakes Dr. Beyond that it is anybody's guess.

That's about right. The county board and planning committee no longer exist to serve the people of Fairfax County. THey exist to serve the builder of county and pass permits to allow move building with NO ROADS OR INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT IT?

WHERE ARE THE NEW ROADS?(Traffic from the new Metro is overloading the area) WHERE ARE THE NEW PARKS FOR SOCCER AND KIDS GAMES? WHERE ARE THE NEW FIRE AND POLICE STATIONS? NEW SCHOOLS?

New county dump?

One word NOTHING! Yet, they'll keep letting builders jam more skyscrapers into Reston and clog the roads, schools, fire department and police response.

How is public transit suppose to solve the problem if buses are stuck in gridlock?
