To Millenials: roughly: China had religion (and war lords) until communist China after World War (when usa helped protect them from japan). Christianity was a crime then and treatment of criminals was rough. Russia also banned religion during communist Russia, Germany burned books but did not ban religion. Arabs hate Christianity we know. China has long pitted against Tibetan priest, which had been thought as a political land grab move. Churches commondly are on land and when "seized", someone ends up with the valuable land. China's population does seem to favor attacking religion - at least when un-seatable rulers who are preparing for war are in power.
