If this was legitimate it would start "Help! I forgot my gf birthday and I am meeting her in an hour".
After the first rounds it does not matter. Whatever you get her will just be used as an excuse to point out how inadequate you are at selecting gifts. She will see something and tell you she always wanted it. You go back and buy it, and at the end of the night she is bitching at you because you didn't buy her some video. You are working in Europe and you arrange to fly her in for a long weekend in Paris. She gets home and complains there wasn't a present waiting for her when she arrived. You buy her a birthday cake that she likes and she complains this time she wanted something different, or wanted one from a different bakery. Now it is just flowers, a gift certificate to the salon and take out. Getting grief is far easier to take when I've only invested $150 bucks and a half hour of time.
