Growing up it was Churches, but I have not seen one in decades. KFC is decent, but I like Popeye's. I will admit that when I buy Popeye's I bring it home and put it in a 375 degree oven for about 15-20 minutes because I prefer my chicken on the dry side and my crust really crunchy. But the spice is just right. I used to like Wendy's fried chicken, but have not had that in about 20 years. /old

Pollo Campero on Columbia Pike in Baileys.
Best fried chicken I've had in a long time.

Not the best tasting chicken, and the prices have become considerably high.

Of the three I prefer KFC, but Ukrop's in Richmond was my all-time favorite. Some Martin's locations continued selling Ukrop's fried chicken following their 2009 buyout of Ukrop's, but Publix bought out Martin's earlier this year. Royal Farms stores in Maryland also have good fried chicken.

Fast food fried chicken, I like Popeye's spicy over KFC. Last few times I've had KFC, it's given me the shits. Church's is good, but I like the spice of Popeye's.

If you have the time, hit the all-you-can-eat lunch at Brion's Grille by GMU. Fresh made fried chicken and mashed potatoes every weekday. It's awesome. It's where I go when I get a fried chicken craving at lunch time.

KFC Chantilly and Popeyes Greenbriar horrible customer service over the years. Looking forward to trying one of the other better options mentioned for fried chicken.

Have to disagree with you on the Popeyes in Greenbriar. I go in there a couple of times a month to order a family meal. When I order they always tell me that they have a special that will basically get me what I want at a lower price. They do not have to go out of their way to do that. Never been disappointed with my service there.

Roy Rogers in Kingstowne fried is terrific and their sides are good as well. Wish there were more Roy's around but I make the 15 minute drive every now and then. KFC is number 2 in my opinion. Popeyes is too greasy.

"Popeye's is too greasy"

Yep. That is why I put it the oven for 20 minutes when I get home. Dries the chicken out, crisps the breading and still has the Popeye's spice. Works for me!

In the oven...on warm? 550? Somewhere in between? Sounds worth a try...
