Fairfax Studies Denial of Services to Illegal Immigrants

...the Post ran this story this morning. Sorta interesting how the ball gets rolling on these types of things right before the elections. It'd be interesting to see the "lists" they are putting together.

Just thought I'd post it cuz there's usually some funny or interesting comments on this subject. Sorry if I'm drawing attention away from those goofy yenta's in the Litsa Mattfeld thread...

read they approved more affordable housing at our expense... family of 3 earning over $100,000 per year. Connelly also has allowed illegal immigrants in affordable housing. He is an idiot.

TheMeeper has a point. Compare this news placement in the Washington Post and the Examiner.

Not only do we near election time, when such a small percentage will likely vote and not influence much, I tend to believe that the Fairfax Underground plays an important role in bringing some of these issues to the forefront.

Now I am curious if our enterprising GMU student will raise the illegal alien issues with the District Chairman's interview. Time to check on Mrs. Mattfeld's thread...

The only thing Fairfax is good at denying to illegal immigrants is 3 squares a day and a nice 6x6 room. How can an illegal get out on bail? Aren't they inherantly a flight risk? Why would the county set an illegal alien back out on the street after serving their time, particularly repeat offenders? Does this make sense to anyone?

The review parallels steps taken in Loudoun and Prince William that eventually would lead to legislation cracking down on illegal immigrants. Leaders in both counties have aggressively pursued crackdowns, with Prince William set to vote late yesterday on proposals to deny certain services to illegal immigrants and asking local police to identify and help deport them.

Fairfax officials, led by Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (D), have accused their neighbors of pandering to anti-immigration sentiment and offering solutions they can't afford and don't have authority to implement.

...and where will the illegal aliens go, when the adjacent counties start cracking down? Why they will stay with their amigos in benign Fairfax County, which provides a host of free services and special low-rent opportunities. Why surely the nation's wealthiest county with the Commonwealth's largest jail can afford this noblesse oblige.

I suspect Takoma Park, Maryland. Its a "sanctuary city" where illegals can
vote in local elections. Its also a "nuclear free zone" so you cannot set
off any nukes there. The place is already over-ran with illegals so why
not send them ours? After all, they are "diversity junkies". Im sure all those
retread hippies who agreed to this madness will offer them a place to live
in one of those big Victorian 3-stories they live in. Peace Love Dove!

That is not accurate statement, I have good friends that live over there in the People's Republic of Takoma Park, and I visit there regularly. It is not "over run with illegals" in any sense. It's actually quite a nice neighborhood; it's not cookie-cutter, it has a small town feel with alot of nice homes and you can walk to the stores, etc. There seem to be many more hispanics in places like Herndon or Annnandale, than I've ever seen in Takoma Park. You're probably confusing it with Langley Park, the neighborhood next to Takoma, which has a whole lot of hispanic people. Either that, or you're talking about things you don't know about.

Point taken Meeper. I should have added, "compared to the way it was many years
ago when I lived there". Langley Park is a mess, agreed. I too have friends who live
in TP who dont seem to mind. (better them than me).

LOL, I was at the Pho place in Langley Park last summer, and two Hispanic guys started duking it out right there inside the restaurant-- and they didn't even call the cops! And then as we were leaving the parking lot, some guy just stood right there along the street and took a piss, my friend's wife was totally freaking out.

It's a total mess over there, Fairfax citizens should almost feel lucky. :)

I have a feeling that Loudoun will soon follow suit with Prince William County.

One of the reasons we are one of the wealthiest counties in the nation is due largely to the fact that residents in other counties in VA are moving to Loudoun. Tom Cruise is even building a home here!

Additionally, the Board of Supervisors in Loudoun County know what they are doing. They look at growth opportunities from an environmental impact point of view. They ensure that the infrastructure is in place; or that the necessary improvements are planned for and incorporated into the proposed build out before a vote is taken. And last but not least, our Board of Supervisors listens to us - the residents.

My Supervisor has come to my home, attends our Community Board meetings, has joined our community discussion forum, and takes action based on what the VOTERS want and need. He is accessible!

Meeper, you hit the nail on the head with that one. Last summer, I drove through
some of the old Maryland burbs I used to live and party in as a youngster.
College Park doesnt feel safe to me anymore. Im a U. of Md. grad and lived in
Greenbelt then. I havent talked with anyone about the matter in College Park, but
it has to have a serious impact on off campus housing for students. There were
"thuggish" types all over. Yes, Fairfax has its problems, but I dont think there
is anyplace in the Maryland burbs I'd want to live now. Besides, you cant get
a CCW and open carry is out of the question.

Didn't I read that the Loudoun Board is the target of an FBI investigation for all kinds of crooked shit?

You read that Bruce Tulloch was or is under investigation. He is up for re-election and so far, he's a shoe in!
The charges are bogus...

Was there something wrong with Mrs. Mattfeld's generous campaign donation?

Let's not send police or fire trucks out until we are sure it's an actual citizen calling in for help.

Gotta say that is the difference between Paco and Da'Kwan. Paco will hustle his ass and throw up some drywall during the day to pay for his beer in his section 8 housing. Da'Kwan will sell drugs and and live in section 8.
