I'm only ever seen by a phsycian assistant and rarely a doctor. who invented this scam?

PA's are fully qualified to see the most basic complaints. No doctor is going to waste his/her time because your dick is a different shade of purple than yesterday.

They're still going to charge an arm and a leg even if you only see a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner. Someone's got to keep the office bills paid while the doctor is out playing winter golf.

The doctor stays in a back room counting money, while the assistants give you advise on your case of sniffles.

Obama totally fucked the medical industry in order to make his insurance buddies more wealthy. It's not cost effective to become a doctor anymore.

Doctors are expensive because of the investment needed to get the degrees. 99% of what people complain about does not require the attention of a doctor at all. PA's, LNP's, RN's, and even pharmacists are quite capable of addressing the actual needs of the average dweeb and doing it at lower cost. Get used to it.

Thanks to low insurance company reimbursements most doctors in private practice can only make decent money by leveraging PAs and other lower cost employees to do as much as possible. In managed care operations the firm administrators are doing the same thing. It is really no different than what dentists are doing. When was the last time you had a dentist clean your teeth?

The US had (and pretty much still has) the most expensive but least effective national health care system in the developed world. Obamacare is the first step toward doing something about that. Those who don't think so can console themselves with the better access to mental health care that Obamacare makes provision for.

Lower cost levels for the same quality of care levels. Wow! Just what the rest of the world has been doing for decades.

You are a fool. Obamacare was a complete failure and did nothing to help anyone. It was a complete insurance scam. Thank God president Trump has stepped in and eliminated the unconstitutional mandate and will pick it apart to get back to the excellent health care and inexpensive insurance we had before the federal government became an insurance salesman.

Nurse practitioners nor Physician assistants have the same level of training as physicians (NOT EVEN CLOSE) so not sure how you feel like that is the "same quality of care". I personally demand to see a physician. Certainly if you feel like it's equivalent than please do see those less trained/ mid level providers.

Hahahahaha. Yeah, Obamacare was supposed to "bend back the cost curve" and save "every American $2,000 a year."! Health care costs have gone up well over 100 percent for much of the nation since Obamacare was passed. But that's what happens when drug and health insurance lobbyists were the ones who wrote the bill.

You are seen by a PA because you allow yourself to be seen by a PA.

I've been at the same boutique practice for 12 years. 4 years ago, I went in for my regular physical and I was seen by a PA. A few weeks later I got the bill and it was the same amount as if I had been seen by a doctor.

I called the billing department which, because it's a boutique practice, is on site. I told the CSR, that they need to reduce my bill because I wasn't seen by a doctor
...I was seen by a PA. The credit appeared on my account in 24 hours.

The next time I made an appointment, I told the receptionist..."Either I see a doctor at doctor's rates or I see a PA at PA's rates...your call, unless I need a second opinion or something significant develops with my health."

4 years later and I only see doctors at that practice now...

You have to be your own advocate. Would you accept a Taurus at Beretta prices? No. So, why are you accepting sub-standard healthcare at premium prices? Speak the fuck up for yourself, or don't say anything. You won't fix it on an Internet forum...

Our health care system has gone to shit. I think out pets are treated better by the vets than we our by our doctors and PA's.

Whatever you do don't hurt your back while in Northern Virginia. The spine doctors will just butcher you to pieces and leave you crippled. I told one doctor that my leg was weak and I could not stand on it because of the pain. She looked at my like I was from another planet. I wish they could experience the nerve pain that comes from a bad back. Maybe then they would treat patients like human beings.

Yeah the medical care in this area is horrible. I was in Fairfax ER last month and they told me "nothing is wrong." Now I'm undergoing major reconstructive surgery because I cant walk. Fairfax is supposed to be a Trauma center and a "world class" medical group. If you get hurt or injured you better off going to a vet than going to Fairfax ER and expecting "world class" medical care.

I don't know what I was expecting... to see a doctor??? I saw one doctor who said hi and that was it. The rest of the time I saw a PA. It's amazing they could not help me avoid a catastrophic medical outcome
