Here's an actual indisputable fact.
The Republicans have control of the Executive and Legislative branches.
This would be the first government shutdown when a single party had this much control.
They could avoid shutting down the the government if they really wanted to.

The House CR bill was nothing but a 4 week extension at current funding levels and a 6 year fix for CHIP. Why the hell wouldn't the democrats vote for that?
Trump is trying to keep the government from shutting down. That is why he had Schumer come down to talk. They are friends and Trump was trying to get Schumer to back off and take care of DACA in another bill.
And if there is a shutdown, you can bet that Trump will be making a big deal out of it and blaming the democrats. Rightfully so. This is like when congress passed a CR that killed the Obamacare mandate (finally killed last month with the new tax bill). Obama vetoed it, just as he said he would. Was that Obama's fault? No. Congress knew he would and sent it to him anyway.

It's very simple: To pass a budget, the Senate needs 60 votes, and the Democrats refuse to do it unless we grant amnesty to another million or so illegal aliens. What do illegal aliens have to do with funding the government? The Dem talking points on this aren't just weak, they're a complete fantasy; it's as if they are hopping up and down, declaring the sky is yellow, not blue. This is what happens when your entire world view is based on subjective opinion, not objective, empirical facts.

Reconciliation bills can be passed on spending, revenues, and the federal debt limit once per fiscal year per topic. Since 1990, the inclusion or addition of extraneous matters has been prohibited by the Byrd Rule.

Reconciliation was peachy-keen with the GOP when Bush-43 used it to get his (ill-fated) Tax Cuts for the Rich passed. But it had somehow become a tool of Satan by the time Obama used it to pass PPACA. That's how much integrity Republicans have -- which is to say none at all.
