Is it wrong for me to assume that the drivers and occupants are sex offenders?

Penn State has the largest Alumni in the world.

Penn State is only 3 hours from DC.

Many local companies and the Federal Government attend the major job fairs at Penn State to recruit and hire for this area. There is a 5 year wait for companies to get into the Penn State job fair which is held in the basketball arena on campus that is as big as the Verizon/Capital One Arena.

Penn State also prepares students for the workforce far better than many of the VA state schools.

Penn State Alumni are everywhere.

LOL

the minimum gpa required to transfer into Penn State from a community college is 2.5. Penn State is a lot like George Mason, only it has a football team, and an actual college town atmosphere. It is in no way shape or form superior to any school in VA.

Not true, no way even close to George Mason. It is clearly superior to many schools in VA.

VA Tech also has a 2.5 gpa minimum for transfers

Neither school is like NOVA

They will consider prospective students with a 2.5, but they would probably need to have an associates in a hard science, and have a lot of work/internship experience. You really should have a gpa of 3.0 if you want to even be considered for Tech.

I would hope not, since a community college only offers Associate degrees targeting technical/vocational skills and/or the ability to continue on for a Bachelors degree.

The majority of states require their public higher ed institutions to accept students the acquire an Associate degree with a 2.5 gpa or higher.

NVCC foundation classes aren’t a cake walk. You can’t just show up and pass.

Penn State has the best locker rooms with a wonderful selection of little boys to soap up with.

Wrong. It’s actually:
Alumni *Association* in the *US*.
If you actually matriculated at PSU, you missed some critical thinking studies.

It’s also the Costco of alumni associations.
ANYONE can throw down $50 and be a member.
You can never set foot in Pennsylvania with a 6th grade education and be a member.

This is SO funny. Just because there is a minimum requirement by no means someone will be accepted with the minimum GPA. Some programs and some "Colleges" within the University have more stringent admission requirements as well. You cannot really judge a school on he minimum requirements, this does not mean they are accepting busloads of students that just met the minimum requirements.

Many schools have far lower minimum requirements for Transfers than Freshman Applicants.

I have seen and compared some of the course requirements for certain programs between UVA, VA Tech and Penn State and I can assure you that Penn State has a far more rounded curriculum overall in the specific programs I compared. I can say a lot of the VA Tech curriculum is really geared to Government and Government Contracting assuming this works for you, this is great. But many people would like a more balanced curriculum.

VA has some good schools but be careful what you think about Penn State if you have never attended or do not have kids attending the school. It has a lot to offer and recruiters and companies want Penn State grads.

Think and say was you want, there are some big numbers for Penn State due to the main campus, satellite campuses and the World Campus. Some of these stats are hard to beat and they say something like 1 in 170 college grads are from Penn State.

"More than 700,000 degrees have been awarded in Penn State’s storied history. From the first 12 in 1861 to the more than 18,000 a year today, the Penn State Family continues to grow and expand, with the current number of living alumni pegged at more than 673,000. These Penn Staters can be found in all 50 U.S. states and more than 160 countries in the world—and the Penn State Alumni Association connects them all through a broad array of programs, events, services, and activities."

No, I didn’t just ‘think and say’, I researched the FACTS and produced them. That is using, again, CRITICAL THINKING.
Critical thinking is the objective analysis of facts to form a judgment.

Clearly you went to PSU and are drinking the Kool Aid.

College Magazine is NOT a critical-thinking academic journal. It’s written and edited by students and is only 10 years. I know about higher ed publications because I work for them. College Magazine is the Teen Beat of higher ed.

I’m not saying PSU doesn’t have a large alumni. It’s a big school, I would hope it’s graduation rate would be high. Some people prefer quality over quantity.

Pennsylvania colleges;

1.UPenn

2.Swarthmore

3.Pitt

4.Dickinson

5.Penn State

PSU is okay, not the best in the state, but you can get a great education for a good price. Still, if you have your pick of schools in the state, you will go for either Penn, Swarthmore or Pitt if you want employers to be impressed.

When I see "Penn State" stickers on cars, I always wonder if they support Sandusky and his pedo faggotry.

Depends on your major and methodology.
Generally speaking Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh, and Villanova are ranked higher than Pitt and Dickenson.

Penn State - Is that the University that allowed little boys to be sodomized in the locker room by one of the football coaches?

The funny thing is it is all about fit.

We checked out Carnegie, NO THANKS. I have a friend whose kid goes there and has a kid at Pitt. It is fine for his kids, but mine would have been miserable there.

Checked out UVA, PASS. Could not get out of there fast enough. Looked at a bunch of other places, some were possibilities, some did not fit well.

Tech was good, thought this would be where my kid was headed, but ended up at Penn State in a very selective program and is very happy and is doing quite well.

No regrets other than the additional money we need to spend, but again, it is all about fit.

All the "Name Brand/Ivy" schools are not all cracked up to be the best fit place for everyone.
