FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Fairfax County Public Schools has launched an online fundraising page on its website to raise money for the costs associated with changing the name of J.E.B. Stuart High School to Justice High School.

The school district has two years to implement the controversial name change. What they don't have right now is the money to do so. Now, they are turning to the public for help.

The web page for donations went live on Friday and the school system is urging the public to donate online or by mail. They insist all donations received will be used toward the costs for the school’s renaming.

My original guess of the amount that would be raised was $15K which appears to be extremely low but I still do not believe that more than $100K will be raised unless there is a large donation from Cohen or Moore. There just never was the interest in changing the name with the exception of the hand full of activists and Sandy Evans. As for Evans, I still believe that she should write out a check for at least $100K to cleanse her conscience for the sins of her great, great, great grand daddy.

They made a really stupid decision and now they are begging. This should get them all voted out and off of the Board.

There will be decades of Buford T. Justice graffiti with this name and for practical purposes this will become the informal name of the school.

The school board members who voted for the name change, over the people in the neighborhood should be voted off the board. They aren't representing the taxpayers, or the majority of students who wanted to keep the name.

Now they are the nation's laughingstock , these Fairfax schools of ours. I don't like the racist terminology being used here, but hope teachers who's pay was frozen for years get a raise instead of having to work other jobs to work for what used to be a great school system.

The name change is far more meaningful to me than getting a raise in salary. I am so committed to Justice that I will donate my entire salary to this cause, and call on all my fellow teachers to do the same.
