Watching the Dodgers dismantle the Cubs showed how weak of an opponent the Nats lost to. That had to be the final nail in Dusty's coffin. Good for the Nats.

I really liked Dusty and wish him the best. The Lerners have about a two-year leash on any new manager and when the team turned little-league in the NLDS the buck stopped at the manager.

I can't help but think he pissed away a couple seasons worth of the best chances we had at winning a world series.

Too many mental errors in the playoffs and too many poor decisions in the playoffs. Reportedly, GM Mike Rizzo was not in favor of this move...so, that's bad optics.

I'd like to know what kind of veteran, proven manager the Lerners think will take this job after the last guy won 180 games, 2 NL East division titles and was not retained after two years. This is not a job for an up and coming manager.

And Bryce is gone after this season if they don't win the WS...

Dusty Baker knew what the deal was coming in. The last manager had been canned because the Nats were not able to get past the first round in the playoffs. Dusty had to at least get them into the NL championship round if he wanted a contract extension. The Nats failed to do that, so fair or not it is goodbye Dusty Baker.

Doesn't matter, this town will never see a title again, in any sport.

The Lerners are going to have to convince DC that the Nationals are interested in winning a championship rather than just occasional entertainment in the summer. I would love to know how the realization that old man Lerner will not live long enough to see a World Series at Nationals Park factored into the decision. In any event, Dusty Baker was in the same mold as Matt Williams. He stroked his spoiled superstars the right way but when it came to managing a baseball game and actually getting those same superstars to perform he was a an old man with limited abilities and whose time has passed him by.

I'm not sad to see Dusty go, but at some point your players gotta play.

Michael A Taylor as the hero in the Cubs series? Not Bryce. Not Werth. Not Murphy (who was injured and still playing). Not Rendone.....Michael A Taylor, with a little bit of Zimmerman thrown in.

This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.' Think about that for a while.

Dusty was clearly moving into "angry old black man" mode and needed to move along.

Dusty's three critical mistakes in the playoffs cost him his job.

1. sticking with Gio Gonzales, who allowed a 4-1 lead turn into a 4-3 lead, with walks and nerves. Dusty needed to hook Gio right after the first walk and a 4-1 lead.

2. Never using a solid pitcher named Tanner Roark the entire series. Roark should have replaced Gonzales early in Game 5.

2. sticking with highly overrated Jason Werth in left field, when he had a much superior, offensively, and defensively, player sitting on his bench- Howie Kendricks.

Dusty's penchant for sticking with his established players caught up with him.
You cant fuck around with that shit in game 5 of a playoff series.

This. Werth is a loser time for him to go too. Time for Harper to move on also. Sad we had a real chance and the "super stars" choked and didn't produce. Jasen if you are reading this eat a bag of dicks.

I don't know what hurts my feelings more - that you hate me or that you are so fucking stupid that you can't spell my name.

Definitely ruined my whole weekend reading this. I can't stop crying.

Werth's contract has expired. The Nationals are not going to give him another one.

Harper's expires at the end of the 2018 season.

I'll bet the police spelled his name right when they arrested him, though...
