When I look out my backyard on cottonwood and see all of springfield 150 feet below, I just take in the view all the way from the potomac to burke.

My friends over at the top of Kingstowne village can see well over into Maryland.

We're good.

I wouldn't keep much gold. In whatever imaginary doomsday scenario you have going, bartering is going to be more useful. Gold is heavy and useless. Seeds are lighter for travel, easier to conceal and more useful.

Bartering is well accepted in all communities from the left (Burning Man) to far right (Idaho separatist) to independent adventurers (Alaska).

Gold would be an urban currency not as useful in the mountains.
