My pet peeve is the people who hang in the left lane doing UNDER the speed limit like they rule the road. The minute you pass them on the right and speed up to a more reasonable speed (say, 58 miles per hour) they are RIGHT ON your bumper.

A lot of it is pure inattention- they are in the left lane in a heated convo on the phone or whatever and don't realize they have slowed down- so you breeze by them on the right AT THE SPEED LIMIT and THEY are pissed like you did them wrong!

Or the worst, old people and new immigrant drivers who have been taught to get on the highway going 35 then immediately veer over to the left lane on a 3-4 lane highway (talking about you I-66 and 495) and maintain that speed, cutting off all the people doing 55 in the other lanes along the way making them slam on brakes and causing more traffic. Then they stay putting in the left lane their entire trip and repeat when it's time to exit- mosey across 3-4 lanes of traffic back to the right causing people to slow down again.

Pisses me OFF!!

I once had to play rabbit, constantly switching lanes to get ahead- a HUGE pack of traffic on 66 rolling west towards route 50- all because grandma (yes an old white haired lady in a town car) in the left lane is too scared to go above 45 and the cars in the other lanes all pacing her on their cell phones not noticing they are ALL traveling UNDER the speed limit. I passed them 66 was WIDE OPEN ahead, and had to pass a good 30 cars to get ahead of the mess they left behind them. SAD.

It's always been bad, but over time I've noticed it gets exponentially worse on the weekends. I chalk it up to people driving around mindlessly since they have the day off, running errands or texting and driving.
