FCPS to Participate in USDA Summer Food Service Program

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) summer food service program for children, a program established to ensure that students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals during the school year continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Free meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines will be provided to children at approved sites throughout Fairfax County.
Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for every child regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, or marital or family status, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals may be provided, pending qualification, at the sites and times listed as follows:

Would FOIA be able to say where these big bucks come from? And how much $$$ this is costing?

Why don't we just feed the world - have everyone stop on by. And no strings attached.

Who do you think would be footing the bill for the "USDA Summer Food Service Program"? (HINT: It's federally funded.) What a bunch of absolute morons!

What a fucking scam.

If FCPS were serious about their budget problem and their ever-dwindling ability to provide a decent academic foundation?

Invite CBP, INS, and ICE to raid these FSA troughs every day of the summer.

Yes because it is way too expensive for the family that all have I phones and dish TV on their homes to make a PB and J sandwich for junior.

Summer suggestions for people who can't afford steaks on the grill and can't afford to feed the children they created-

PB and J
eggs
dried beans
apples and bananas
pasta (store brand, on sale)
Walmart cereal
rice
more eggs and dried beans (you can't beat the price for protein)
tap water

Abstinence.

Really?! So the USDA funds the cooks, the extra utilities, the extra clean-up, the staff needed for supervision, ... highly unlikely! Look past the surface, goober! You'll see another freebie initiated by the fed's for the hungry illegal immigrants, yet future FOIA would reflect a higher % of actual dollars mandated from us at the local level.

Does it say that questions should be directed to FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800. Doesn't it say the USDA is heading up this project. Why would the county office be involved... unless we're doing the lion's share and USDA is just donating some of the food like they do the rest of the year - boxes of cheese, dried milk and eggs, big tins of beans and barbecque.

Correction: We're not feeding all the illegals for the summer, just their offspring.

Giant has stuff in the back marked down like 50%. Just picked up two boxes of Cheerios for $1.84 each just because the boxes were smashed.

Barilla pasta was on sale for 88 cents.

Stupid goober dumbfuck. The Summer Food Service Program is not provided in schools. There are no kids in schools in the summer. Fucking clod. Program sites include parks, playgrounds, day camps, churches, community centers, and so on. And yes, USDA defrays the costs in consort with networks of individual and corporate sponsors. I don't guess that you're among those though. Pathetic goober asshole.

It takes a village, you braindead moron. USDA funds the program through the Virginia Department of Health in our case, and then on down to the appropriate local governmental units. You just don't know how anything at all works, do you. Can you open a can of soda by yourself, or do you need help with that as well? Fucking dumbass.

Either the government is so contemptuous of Americans that they believe they are unwilling or unable to feed their children, or many Americans are unwilling or unable to feed their children. Either way, this nation is in trouble.

The country is in trouble because of self-serving corporatists who are unwilling to pay tens of millions of American workers enough even for full-time work to be able to provide themselves or their families with minimally adequate levels of nutrition.

Program would only exist if liberals did not have so little faith in parents that they think they will not feed their children. And, with respect to the post above, do you really think big, bad, evil corporations pay employees so little that they can't get some toast or bowl of cereal for breakfast. My breakfast costs about a dollar, if that: two pieces of toast or a bowl of cereal or a couple of eggs.

It would cost me more to drive to my kids' school to get a "free" breakfast than it would cost to make it at home.

Thank God somebody else has some common sense besides corn 5/!1 which is ME. You could easily feed two kids for under a dollar.

hard to believe my mom sent me to school all those years with a pbj, or bologna sandwich, some chips, and I ended up healthy enough.
Guarantee you it's mostly non whites for whom taxpayers are footing the bill.
This is the result of the 3rd world invasion that hopefully, Trump will put an end to.
This is why the liberals hate him so much, because they're worried he might deport people that are a huge financial burden to the country.
