Does anyone know of a good motorcycle shop to fix the carb on my bike? Coleman is a ripoff. Thanks in advance.

Ask Jeeves: "DIY Dirt Bike Repair".

That might link you to an Internet sight named "youtube".

Do not click on any you tube links.

You would be at serious risk of saving money, learning something and maybe even a busted knuckle.

Surely someone in your trailer park can fix your dirtbag dirt bike?

Around $100 on ebay for a single carb.

Try REI in Fairfax Corner, a recreational sports store. For non-motorized bikes, they do good repair work on my own at reasonable prices not ripping you off and staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I never asked about motorized bikes, but since they provide sales and service for a variety of outdoor sports, it may be worth asking them. If they don't, they can likely provide you one or more worthwhile local recommendations on repair shops, as sure not the first time they have been asked the question.

Are you retarded? Dirt bikes are the antithesis of what we stand for! My advice is to take the piece of shit noisemaker to the dump.

What's the problem with your carb? If you have a dirt bike you really should learn how to fix it, unless you don't mind emptying your wallet and being without your bike for far too long while the dealer "works" on it.

I know how to work on my bike and rebuilt the carb twice already. It is toast.

Go to amazon and just order a new one. By the time you pay for repair, pick up and drop off, you'll have a new one from china in 5 days.

No idea if Sterling Mower would work on a bike, but a carbureted thumper dirt bike is closer to a mower mill than most street bikes, so might be worth a call. They've seemed decent to me in my admittedly limited experience with them.

#1 never let anyone else on your bike

#2 never let anyone work on you bike in fairfax

they will most definitely, in fairfax, do more damage than good. they will attack it - ie poke holes in tubes to cause later repairs

you've been warned

if the shop thinks your request to watch the work done is strange but allows it, perhaps allow it

if the shop insults you and says no-one is allowed to watch them behind their curtain - walk out

OK, if it is "toast", what is the mechanic supposed to do, besides order a new one and add his premium onto the price of the new carburetor, plus installation that you could have easily purchased and installed yourself? And how many thousand miles have you put on a dirt bike that the carb is worn out? If you have torn the diaphragm or galled a jet, replace them. Please tell me in what way the carburetor is "toast".
A competent mechanic in this area will cost you more than a dirt bike is worth; use them to repair something beyond your skill set. For a dirt bike, fix it yourself or give it to someone who can and buy yourself a new dirt bike.
