Aldi in Chantilly

I stopped in the Aldi in Chantilly this evening for my first time. What a shit hole. It's like the bastard warehouse son of a Big Lots - Dollar Store marriage. Does anyone know of any redeeming value in this store?

Nope. When it first opened, we got a free $5 off any purchase in the mail. I stopped by, walked through, and couldn't find a single thing I could imagine buying. I picked the neediest-looking person in the checkout, handed her the coupon, and left.

Yet Aldi rates pretty high on Consumer Reports' list. Not that CR is the bible in such things, but for gossakes, Safeway and Food Lion in this area are better than that Aldi -- and those two are both horrible. All I can think is that some Aldis are a lot better than the Chantilly store!

And to think that when the Shopper's closed, I emailed Trader Joe's and suggested they take the space. There are no TJ's between Reston and Centreville; I'd think the South Riding crowd alone would keep one going there. Oh well...

That's odd considering Albrecht Discount owns both Aldi and Trader Joes.

Some stuff at Aldi is good. For instance, the cereal that looks like Cheerios are not like Cheerios, they ARE Cheerios. Except they're one third the price.

I cant imagine how bad a store must look to make a Food Lion the better choice. I havent been in a Food Lion that I havent lost my appetite.

Food Lion has mirrors?

Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do that.
Doctor: well, then don't do that.

"stupid is as Stabitha does"

Was that an attempt at humor? You will need to try much harder.

Aldi is good for eggs, milk, cheese, and junk food.

I agree that Aldi is so depressing, they should hand out razor blades when you walk in so you can slit your wrists.

However... theyre are a few great deals to be had. Their big ass cans of cashews for $2.79 is about half of what you pay anywhere else. Also the chocolate and cheeses are from Europe and a notch better in quality than a lot of yout typical domestic stuff.

Aldi is great if you don't mind bland food. At least you'll save $ that way.
