Pretty simple question here, or so I'd imagine.
Would anyone care to make a suggestion for specific places to look for a new place of employment?
More specifically, I am a college student who has been paying his way through college since age 16, and need to find something stable, consistent, and fair paying to keep this up.
I am quite fimiliar with Craigslist, and do have my resume on ComputerJobs.com - any suggestions beyond this?

During summer - you can intern in downtown DC, easily making $12-15/hr
If you do want to get something long term, try a temp agency and see if they can get you a temp to hire position with whatever it is you know to do.

Downtown may be a little far for me, but I'd do it for the resume building.
Temp agencies I'd consider, but there are plenty enough that I'd like a reccommendation prior to going to see one :)

I say the only way for someone like you to go is fast food. Now, you'll have plenty of options. You can go the burger joint route and try Burger King, McDonalds, Checkers and the like. Or, you could try a more ethnic route and go with Taco Bell. But if you're looking for some more challenges and a more diverse job skill set, try places like Denny's, IHOP, or other diner type places.
If you already have experience in food preparation and service, then you might work up to the holy grail in this field--wait staff! Applebees, Chili's, TGIFridays, etc. are usually hiring and bro, it don't get no better than that. That is a job you can make a career out of!
But if you are more the outdoors type, you could get your certification as a lifeguard and work at any of the local pools. If your certification is not up to date, check the local papers or with the YMCA. There are lots of classes right now to get ready for the season.
If you can speak Spanish, you might also explore the lawn care field. A smart lad like you that can type and use a computer has the possibility of getting into a supervisory position in a few years if you work hard.
I am assuming that you are in some sort of liberal arts major since you are posting here looking for jobs. If you were in any sort of major that would lead to a real, productive job after college, you would have explored internships already, right? You can't hardly leave the house without falling into an internship in this area if you are in the right major.

You can enter nova before you even graduate high school if you do dual enrollment.

I remember someone from Oakton did that...they basically completed their senior year early (I think through a combination of summer school classes and NoVa courses). If I remember correctly, she walked with the class ahead of her.

Yeah, IT field pays well.
But not everyone is IT or is interested in IT.

I know some recruiters. It isn't a temp agency so they don't whore you out in the usual sense of short term work.

Most of the best and highest paying techsa jobs ive done is just by walking from building to building and knocking on door. there are tons of companies looking for people, it just their to lazy to advertise. a good corp feild to break in is working at a operation center like CLEC or Telco there are tons on the dulles corridor. also check the local companies websites in your area they always have openings listed that you can apply for. im currently in between jobs myself right now.

I tried a whitelist, but if you have a dynamic customer base you have to answer to, it is not a viable option until they come up with a nice tidy way to bind my new customer orders into my spam blocking software...... that I can afford to buy that is. I would need the customer management software to add each person I input to my whitelist...

Have you ever considered working for Rosetta Stone? They sell language learning software out of the local malls and airports. Stop by any of their kiosks. They are always hiring. Employees average $12-$18/hr. www.rosettastone.com
