I haven't had any good ones since I left Ukraine 10 years ago. I've had to settle for the Pierogis they sell at bj's. Anyone know any good places? Spacibo

I had a weird dream last week about a pierogi restaurant, it looked like a Chipotle but they sold like 20 different kinds of pierogis with all kinds of different toppings.

I wish that really existed around here.

Does that place even still exist around here? The only one that I knew of was the one at Fairfax Circle that closed years ago. I think they used the same oil to fry everything since day one, never changing it.
According to their website, there are only 7 left in the country. Three in New York State, and four in Ohio.

Eastern PA is where all the Pollacks, Slovaks, Hungarians....settled when they came here to dig coal. That is where you want to get your pierogies, Leehigh Valley. The best ones will be at at some random Catholic church having a bake sale. Get yourself some haluski while you are at it

And get your kielbasa here.

That story was made up by the media and the big fish corporations who wanted to close down the only places around where one could get quality fish and chips for a reasonable price. Arthur Treacher's had clean tables, restrooms and the best cole slaw around. And that fish! perfectly fried to a golden brown. Flaky. Delicious!

I am from Pittsburgh and moved here 14 years ago. I remember what it was like to have some good home made perogies. I have found a church in Fairfax called Epiphany of Our Lord that sells frozen and fresh perogies during lent. It starts this Friday and ends April 7. Take -out begins at 4:00 PM. Eat-in begins at 5:00 and both end at 7:00 PM.

I think the more important question here is which restaurant has the better potatoes...

The answer is clearly Arthur Treacher's and their magnificent chips. Fried golden brown with a nice, soft center. The fish is amazing, too!

Wash it all down with an ice orange Fanta and you just can't do better on the price.
