This is awesome...

He is the kind of player who will allow them to avoid being swept in the 2nd round and get eliminated 4 games to 1 instead!

Seriously...by giving up Sanford, a 1st rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year this is the textbook definition of mortgaging the future. If they don't win the Cup this season, they will not do so in the Ovechkin era.

I am a lifelong VA resident. I support all DC sports (except soccer which is gay and that stupid bullshit tennis team) but I just do not give 2 shits about hockey or the Caps. I actually secretly enjoy watching them lose every year. I would never say this out loud because my friendies would beat me, but I love seeing them get knocked out of the playoffs and I hope they NEVER win the cup. That would be great.

That's a long shot.
Bruins are still floating on edge of playoffs.
It would be the first round vs. Caps.

Bruins aren't good enough to go to game 7 of a second round.
Book it.

That would be a fucking dagger right there...currently MIN is the top team in the West so, this is not outside the realm of possibility.
