I have a small package I need to send to Ontario Canada which is just across the lake from Rochester NY in case you didn't know. This box is maybe 1.5 lbs and approx 12x8. Cheapest rate from PO was $20.20.....that's INSANE! UPS want's over $30!

There has to be a cheaper alternative. I refuse to get fucked without even getting kissed first!

Any ideas?

My drone only has a workable range of about 1000 yards. Which means I owuld have to drive to within 1000 yards of the destination to do that.

That's the cheapest. Was about $6-$8 for about 1lb but the rates to Canada doubled last year and they also implemented dimensional pricing which bumps it up a little too. Prices go up again on January 22 but I think that international mail is staying the same.

But USPS rates still apply. Under international postal treaties the country of origin sets the price. The destination country agrees to deliver. They can add various fees, taxes, etc., over and above that which are charged to the recipient.

It's not. I ship international packages every day. USPS will be the cheapest for small/light packages by quite a bit.

There haven't been individual treaties since the late 1800s. It's done through the UPU.

As above, the cost of postal is dictated by the originating county and the proceeds from postage remain in-country. The receiving country just agrees to deliver whatever mail it receives from outside. The increase here going to Canada wasn't a result of any treaty change, it was a general across-the-board increase in all international rates by USPS. All close to doubled. Even worse now going outside of North America - $22.30 at commercial rates for a small 1 lb. package to the EU, Asia, Australia, etc., which increases with package size. But UPS, Fedex, DHL are even more ridiculous so not much alternative really.

I like USPS here but sucks that they raised the international price so much. Had a significant effect on my international business when they did. Fortunately or unfortunately, the US doesn't subsidize postage for businesses as do China and some others which is why you can buy some stuff from there and have it shipped for like $2. Worse yet, the USPS has partnership deals where it subsidizes Chinese shippers. :| Still don't get that one.

Many largest world's companies such as Alphabet, Amazon, Google often talk about drone delivery in the next 20-30 years. Global development drone delivery, it is my positive answer to the new technologies. Drones delivery don’t need any systems and drivers, and they don’t get caught in traffic.
