With the jet stream taking another dive south early next week, we will see the cold air return. Along with the cold air we are seeing the potential for a massive snow storm on the latest model runs bringing up the question is another Snowmageddon on it's way.Only time will tell but this storm has the potential of being a deadly one.

I agree that weather gang likes to stray from the truth and show models that predict the highest potential snowfall, but there is really about 5% chance of it happening. However i'm am not exaggerating this, the cold air will be in place with a dip in the jet stream for most of early next week and there is a very large storm forming, but the track of the storm is uncertain and that is why i said potential. If it does make landfall though the storm will be on the east coast. or it could stay out at sea, like i said only time will tell.

The weather gang shows all the well known models, not just the ones with the highest snowfall potential. Recently I've started to dislike the weather gang because they've begun really underestimating storms because they're worried about being wrong if they forecast more snow than we actually get. This last storm is a perfect example..they predicted 1-3in in the immediate DC area, and DCA (notorious for low snowfall) got like 7in.

Here's what the weather gang said i also heard the weather channel say there was a potential for a big storm but for the mid Atlantic not the far northeast like the weather gang said.

Well the reason for all of this is the Artic is warming much faster than the rest of the earth pushing the cold air farther south, slowing down the jet stream as a result of the jet stream slowing down it is fluctuating more than usual. That is why we are seeing huge dips and curves in the jetstream bringing all of the cold air from the north with it. Combined with a lot of moisture coming off the ocean we can see small or large snowstorms depending on the temperature of the ocean and the energy in the storm. The reason snow storms are so large in the later months is because the ocean is warmer giving the storms a lot more moisture in energy creating the potential for things like another snowmaggedon.

This system has the potentional to develop into the biggest snowstorm of the season.

Last week of March. Largest accumulation of the winter. The good news is that with the high March sun it won't stick around long.

Some climatologist posits a guess in January that has not been verified by data causing most other climatologists to move away from the position but all the internet bots repeat it like Gospel.

But the one before this they over-estimated, and people bitched. So people are bitching no matter what. Get in line, nature will do whatever the fuck it wants. At least we have some dedicated people that can understand the crazy Doppler, radar, modeling newfangled thing and make sense out of it. Ohh big deal they were off a couple of inches.

FCPS will be closed Monday in anticipation of the storm, Tuesday because of the 18" of snow and Wednesday as well. Thursday will see a delayed opening. The school calendar will be extended until July 3.
