Sully Police District – Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr. is back to work this morning after he was involved in a collision in Centreville in which the other driver was charged with driving drunk. The Chief was driving his unmarked police cruiser, a 2017 Ford Explorer, southbound on Lee Highway at around 8:40 p.m. on Monday, December, 12. He stopped for a red traffic signal at Lee Highway and Stone Road. A Nissan SUV then rear-ended his cruiser.
The Chief immediately reported the crash to our dispatchers, using the police radio in his cruiser. Fortunately, he only had minor injuries and was taken to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital for evaluation and treatment. He was released late last night. The driver of the SUV, 40-year-old Christie A. Edgar, of Centreville, was arrested at the scene. She was taken to the Adult Detention Center (ADC) and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. She was released from the ADC at around 9:30 this morning.
A 48-year-old man who was a passenger in Edgar’s SUV, was released at the scene.
