APG Alternatives is a business in Fairfax that specializes in home improvement and construction projects, and tells customers on its website that "you'll be grateful to have our general contractor and accomplished crew as your partners."
But APG Alternatives certainly is not grateful that it out-sourced contracting work on its own facility at 10560 Main Street.
According to Fairfax Police, the owner reported Sept. 16 he paid a contractor by check July 19 for electrical and plumbing work on his business which hadn't been done despite the check having been deposited.
Police investigated, and the no-show contractor was arrested Thursday.
Marius M. Madera, 48, of the 2800 block of Lake Drummond Causeway in Chesapeake, was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses.
