Police have made arrests in two recent high-profile crimes in western Prince William County.
On Friday, detectives charged 35-year-old Jose Roberto Ruiz of Yorkshire Lane in Manassas in connection with the March 9 rape of a woman sleeping in her bed on Prince Cole Court.
The crime happened around 4:40 a.m. The victim told police she awoke to a stranger sexually assaulting her. He was gone when police arrived.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a possible suspect walking in the area after the incident.
“After an extensive investigation and numerous canvasses in the neighborhood, detectives were able to identify the suspect,” said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Ruiz was arrested Friday on Keara Court in Manassas, Perok said. He is charged with rape and burglary with intent to defile and was held without bond.
