It is safer to either back in or pull through. It's just common sense that when you leave, you can see a lot more pulling forward then trying to see behind you, even if you have a backup carama.

It's because when we pull in to park and try to back out to leave, inconsiderate and selfish asshats like yourself don't have the courtesy to let us backout without risking life and limb. This. I can't stand how people fly through parking lots. I expect people to be on the look out for reverse lights and a car slowly creeping out, but no they rather just fly by. pedestrians do the same crap...i rather park in reverse and trust myself than put my trust in others.

Only losers and henpecked men go to shopping centers. Online shopping twice a year for everything else.

Some people in my neighborhood, park backwards, where they have put the resident parking stickers on the windshield, which makes it easier for the tow trucks to see passing through at night and to validate. There was some confusion in the neighborhood parking regulations which car window to place the parking sticker on, so this is how this came about. Of course, people will do what is reasonable to avoid a tow, costing $150-200+ plus time.

Fools insist on backing their vehicles into parking spaces. Not only is it a time-consuming idiotic waste of everyone's time it does make it more unsafe when pulling out of your parking spot because no one sees your brake lights.

And yes, it DOES take longer for people to back their vehicle into a tight space surrounded by two cars than to back out onto the open street where there it is completely open.

However, people can do what they want. It is a small thing. But it can be annoying sometimes when I have to wait for someone to take their 4 attempts to back into their space - you'd think they were backing a tractor trailer.

And people who park pulling in forward we have to wait when the driver backs out of the space. I've had to wait up to 10 minutes for some Asian women to back their corollas out of spaces.

True. But you'd have to wait 20 minutes if they were trying to back it in between 2 cars.

If you are in a shopping center lot where people come and in and you have a standard sedan type of car and two SUVs end up parking on both sides of you when you are ready to exit, lot easier and safer to get out if parked backwards and can pull out forwards than the other way around. Sometimes you are lucky, where can drive into the space and the space on the other side in front of the space pulled forward into is empty, but does not happen so often in busier parking lots.

Strange. I have been parking cars in parking lots for over 30 years. Have never backed into a space in my life. Have never had a problem with safety.

Most drivers, especially older drivers with poorly maintained vehicles, do not have the skills or vehicle capabilities to maneuver their car backwards into a parking spot. They should continue to park in a manner suited to their car and abilities.

I may choose to pull in backwards to give the maximum space between the opening driver's side doors for each vehicle. It also allows for an easy pull out at the end of my shopping visit with full visibility of the older drivers who are unaware of their surroundings. Much safer for me. My rear-view camera and sensors also allow me to place my bumper within an inch or two of exactly where I want my car to be.

Tow truck drivers hate rear-wheeled drive vehicles that are pulled in backwards too, but I always park legally and keep my vehicle registered and inspected properly, unlike older, anti-government types.

In short park backwards if you can, don't do it if you can't.

This is all about entitled bikers who can't tell when cars parked backwards might pull out of their parking spaces. God forbid that these almost invisible bikers (no lights, black clothing) might have to slow down and watch out for other drivers. It's so hard to see bikers that, if they get hit, it's probably their own fault.

FYI, some call it "combat parking". Don't know about now, but in the past some military units required it. It makes sense, although I don't park that way. However, backing out when a truck has pulled in next to you makes it almost impossible to see what is coming.
