FcPS paid "Dr." Eric Jensen $43,000 to train teachers and administrators. This worked out to about $9,000 a day. Many of Jensen's ideas have been roundly criticized, and, to date, no one from FCPS has stood up to justify why he was hired or what results he produced.
At 4%, the proposed meals tax, people would have to spend $1,075,000 to generate the $43,000 paid to Jensen. That's a lot of meals and just ONE example.
Want another one? Karen Garza gets $24,000/year for housing. To cover that, $600,000 would have to be spent on meals. It never ends.
There is NO way the meals tax would "save the schools" and there is NO guarantee that the Board of Supervisors would not also raise property taxes.
The meals tax is nothing but an invitation to FCPS to continue to waste money.
Vote NO on the meals tax on November 8.
