Join The US Marine Corps. If you do, You can join all the other armed services after your 4 year hitch runs out.. Without going to their boot camp, If your Army and you want to be a Marine. You'll have to do the USMC boot camp over.

The fact someone "barley" finished high school does not tell much. Its the will to finish boot camp and the want to be a member of the armed services. Really anyone can do it.. Unless your a F up with a attitude. Or just don't want to be there. The Air Force has many technical schools, you have to have the aptitude to get in. So does The Navy. the Army does too and the Marines with aviation and electronics but they also need as the old saying goes " Grunts..Soldiers and Marine riflemen and the Navy needs Deck Apes too and the "Black Gang". old name for the ones in the steam or power plants aboard ship not about race. I would also say something about "The Cook" but don't want Steven Seagal to beat the shit otta me..

If you graduate from West Point, Annapolis, or the Air Force Academy, you can go in any branch of the military without need to attend any additional boot camp.

Is not EZ in NOVA . Students need a high over 3.5 grade average, high test scores, a lot of extra school activities, a second language, and volunteer work plus some type of athletic team playing. No you don't have to be a star quarterback,or have 4.0 grades alone. They want to see people who can handle a full plate of activities and get excellent grades and can show it with the test results and have a personable attitude.

Appointments come from US Congress House members, US Senators and the President plus a small number of openings are reserved for each academy for US military enlisted personnel who are selected for military achievement. The military has special "prep" schools to help these people get up to full speed before attending a service academy. Otherwise.

If your a sloth..you can still get in ..If your father is a Medal of Honor recipient.

If you are selected, you will get paid to go to college, be commissioned as a officer on graduation and will have to serve 6 years to repay Uncle Sam for your education. You will receive full free military medical benefits during your college years. And paid leave which you will not be able to use much of.. Summers will be spent in military training. Fall , Winter and Spring in Academics. If you stay in the military you will earn 1 year service for your 4 years in college toward retirement so you will have 19 to go when you graduate. All the above are also accorded and required of regular college grads who are cadets or midshipmen in a US Military sponsored ROTC college program.

College grads who enter OCS training after graduation and then joining the military do not receive the 1 year toward retirement credit. Their service time starts when they are sworn in.

Unfortunately, it is extremely easy to pass basic training in the Army. A prime example is Fort Jackson South Carolina, where all you need to do is maintain weight and you can be slightly overweight; they pass america's dummy youths with fake Go/No go -- always erring on the side of "go." Cant shoot, no problem, the drill instructor will do it.

Cant do push ups, no problem they will let you cheat on your push ups -- and depending on the NCO they will let you cheat on push ups in regular army after you get out of basic. Cant Run? No problem, just get a profile from the Sick call, saying you have shin splints.

Got a migraine after you leave the Army? Collect $300 a month in VA disability benefits (easy to get disability from Army) for life.

Finally, there is a lot of pressure on Army recruiters to offer rank in exchange for reenlistment; this is why you always have overweight females in high ranking SFC (Sergeant first Class roles) who rarely deploy. You can get rank in Army by playing system. All NCOER rankings are inflated with only PT tests showing some modicum of objectivity (and even that is inflated through fake NCO push up grading)

Do we blame the recruiters? No we will not, because less than 1% of America has the balls to deploy for war. Look at current politicians. Recruiters are forced to keep people in cuz of luckless unpatriotic Americans. Blacks can get more money doing nothing; Hispanics have no sense of patriotism - when Medicaid pays for everything; so southern whites seem to make up our fighting force (look at KIA statistics).

Who wants to fight for a country when hardly anyone has to share the burden?

God bless those who serve and deploy --- I even support their free lifetime health care for family and exceedingly low health premiums, they deserve it as copwardly American millenials refuse to serve.

If you enter a service academy while enlisted, the entire 4 years is credited for retirement. However it does not count as total commissioned service.

I don't think that's a huge issue any more. Recruiters are more up front about it, so it's not that much of a shock.
