Veterans and active duty: vote NO on the meals tax

FCPS has no respect for the military:

I refuse to vote for the meals tax so that they can continue their disrespectful conduct.

I encourage all veterans and active duty to vote NO on the meals tax.

I'm a vet, but ONLY because I wanted the taxpayers to pay for my college tuition.

I don't think I'm particularly deserving of respect for my "service". I was looking out for ME and nobody else.

Because of my education, I can easily afford a few cents extra on my restaurant tab.

You don't have to noble to join up. You can be ruthless, that's a good thing sometimes. I went to school on the VA bill because I didn't want to put the load of tuition on my parents. I still had to get a part time job because I had to pay for lodging, books and beer (hey, I ain't no saint).

I was undecided about the food tax until I saw how rude, patronizing and down right shrill some people are about passing it.

"Something is not right, rife with errors from top to bottom, leading to suspicion of motive. "

^ Please clarify. Are the rude people the ones in favor of the meals tax or those against it?

I don't believe you.

This is untrue. The rancid butter of rampant assholism is thickly spread on both sides of this particular slice of bread.

I'm a vet. The government paid for my undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as flight training. What is the connection with the meals tax?

I care not what you Furfux people vote on.

Just keep paying my huge salary for babysitting your brats.

They suck balls and so do you.

They aren't going to use the meals tax for worthy things like flight training, etc. FCPS is going to use it for trips to Napa, room service for the Super, dinners at Sea Pearl for the Gatehouse crowd, and overnight "meetings" at the Loews.

The meals tax is to diversify income for the county, so it isn't wholly dependent on property taxes. The idea is, if income can be raised in other areas ($0.04 per dollar spent on prepared food) then it would keep the need for large property tax increases each year.

So why do we need to "diversify income" vs simply raising property taxes?

Probably to capture the crowd who doesn't pay property taxes but goes out to eat a lot.

Interesting idea, except that property taxes will keep going up anyway.

Doesn't exist.

Dear Fantasy-There are actually a lot of people who don't pay property taxes and go out to eat a lot. I am voting no on the meals tax because FCPS is terrible at managing money. They always have money for nice dinners, fancy trips, and hotel meetings, but never have enough for the kids, teachers, etc. Giving them more money to mismanage is not the solution to the problem. They are greedy crooks and need to clean it up.
