Ryan McElveen INSULTS the Military!
Posted by: FCPS is out of control ()
Date: August 03, 2016 10:45AM

At large school board member and self-described "social justice warrior" Ryan McElveen insulted the military:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/fairfax-school-board-votes-to-honor-military-enlistees/2012/03/08/gIQAYznL0R_story.html

He opposed students' rights to wear military honor cords.

This is deplorable. McElveen has never had a real job, and certainly has no history of military service. The only "social justice war" McElveen has ever fought was getting priority seating at a restaurant for an FCPS meeting.

This is the type of thing that has become a priority for FCPS, and it has nothing at all do with education.

These machinations are expensive, and reinforce the fact that the proposed meals tax is a bad idea.

So, mark your calendars-vote NO on the meals tax on November 8!

You know, hats off to the population of Fairfax for being so civilized. It wasn't too long ago that assholes like this chrome dome faggot would wind up in the hospital beat to within inches of his life.

I agree with McElveen.
It's about what students have done in high school.

It's not an insult.
Guess who else 'has no history of military service'?
The students that would be wearing the stupid 'honor cords'.
Signing up is easy, it isn't honor or valor.

It's like participation awards without even participating.

Some of the students who wanted to wear the cords were already in the National Guard. Sorry, but that constitutes a history of national service.

McElveen is immature and incompetent. He is a disgrace to his country.

Wow, breaking news from 2012!!!

But anyway, for once I agree with McWeenie. What if a military enlistee doesn't want everybody to know that they are stupid enough to volunteer to be cannon fodder for the oil industry?

I'll be voting for the meals tax on the off chance that a few military cheapskates will pay it. They sure as hell don't pay for much else.

Why do you have the freedom to write stuff on this board? Because of a SOLDIER, not a self-proclaimed social justice warrior.

These young people making commitments to the military deserve all the respect we can give.

It doesn't matter if the news came from 2012 or 1912. McElveen's priorities are messed up, and it is clear he has never faced adversity in the name of any of his so-called "causes."

If the students have signed up to enlist, they are technically already in the military, in the Delayed Enlistment Program. Students who are members of the National Guard are obviously also in the military already. (That is not true for an ROTC scholarship or accepting a service academy appointment.)

It is appropriate that all four groups should be honored, since getting an ROTC scholarship or academy appointment is based on what they have done in high school.

You've been watching too much tv. The last time our "freedom" was threatened in any way was World War II.

Millions of farm boys and city boys turned out to help stop Hitler and Hirohito. When it was over four years later, the survivors went home and resumed civilian life. How long has Iraq/Afghan been going on now, 15 years? These heroes today would fold in a few days against the Wehrmacht.

All the "wars" since WWII have been for the profit of the military industrial complex. Ike warned us about it.

The only effect 9/11 had on our freedom is that we voluntarily forfeited a lot of it afterwards. Ask any grandma that has had the TSA check her diaper.

McElveen's pro-tranny zeal would last about 10 seconds under a Wahhabi regime.

Going to war or not is a decision made by the President and Congress. Those who serve in the military do not choose which wars to fight. They serve their country, and are every bit as capable -- if not more so -- than those who fought against the Wehrmacht.

This issue has nothing to do with the meals tax, nor do most of the grievances the OP uses to support his opposition. It's getting old. And personally, I can't get exercised over cords on a cap, although I recognize that some people do.

Some people get exercised over passing the tax. Others get exercised over transgendered bathrooms. Chacun a son gout.

They're usually the same people. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
