Fairfax County Meals Tax - Vote NO

There does not appear to be a very compelling reason to vote YES to a Fairfax County Meals Tax. There's a lot of rhetoric and hand waving going around, but no solid case being made. Voting no doesn't really require any justification, it's the obvious and default response unless someone can provide convincing reasons that taxes should go up. There is no guarantee or expectation this would ever pass, so the county has to be operating under the assumption this money won't be there. They should find ways to cut spending and make better choices.

I took at look at this site after seeing one of the other posts link to this Facebook page:

They really do tout 29 Diner's support for the Fairfax County Meals Tax. That's completely ridiculous given 29 Diner is in Fairfax City. That's kind of a sleazy way to operate. 29 Diner should take 4% of its net receipts each day and cut a check to Fairfax County. I guarantee they won't reject the money. They should put their money where their mouth is or just shut up altogether

Take a look at this:

http://www.dailyrepublic.com/news/education-news/128900-pact-with-consultants-goes-before-fairfield-schools/

Nardos King, formerly of MVHS, hired this guy. In case you forgot, she's the same Nardos King who ran ads for dubious weight loss and sexual enhancement products in the yearbook.

FCPS spends money like there's no tomorrow. It does NOT go to the teachers. It goes to "consultants" like Flip Flippen. It goes to administrators (many have NO teaching experience), travel, and dining. FCPS spends $80,000 A MONTH on travel and their restaurant bills are nothing if not legendary.

Sleaze. You thought it had six letters. I can do it in four: FCPS.

Mark your caldendar-vote NO on the meals tax on November 8th.
