Poor kid. He was there to have a fun and memorable time and wound up with this life changing nightmare. He wasn't doing anything wrong, he was just enjoying being outside in a NY City park with his buddies - young and carefree. I hope they catch whoever left that explosive there. If someone is targeting kids who would be the ones to tend to climb in areas like that then they need to be caught - the sooner the better.

What are the odds? I'm speculating they may have been playing with this stuff and it went sideways very badly. It is the 4th weekend, they are teen age guy's, and just stepping on a firecracker doesn't usually set them off.

NYPD bomb squad says victim and friends are not suspects. Evidence suggests explosive in park was there longer than a day.
