I remember there being a Carnival of some sorts in Springfield Virginia, right around where the Hilton Hotel and Springfield Mall was located. It looked like an annual carnival that lasted a few weeks.

What happened to it? Is it still around in the Summer? Google doesn't give me any information aside from that it closed.

It is gone and probably never coming back. The only reason they could have it in the mall parking lot was because it wasn't busy........ ever. That's not the case anymore so I doubt it will be back at that location. Renting the lot was probably dirt cheap at the time too.

They caught Hispanics sexually molesting the circus animals, so it won't be back.

They had one set up and Landmark Mall a few weeks back. Best bet now is just to wait until Celebrate Fairfax in June.

So let me try to understand what you want. There was a carnival that was in the Springfield Mall area some 15 to 18 years ago, and you wonder where it is, and want to find info, but Google comes up with nothing.

OP is thinking of "Springfield Days" which began in the 1980s, and hearkened back to similar celebrations held in Springfield back in the 1950s and 60s.

It still exists, but in a much-changed form. No more carnival rides in the parking lot of Springfield Plaza or Springfield Mall (IIRC, it was held in both locations in different years.)

Goes to show, you actually didn't have a clue, and you probably still don't.

The only carnival I remember was back in the early 80s and was located in the field that is now the parking lot at giant.

Were the fuck is Springfeild?

Yeah I think that was it, "Springfield Days".

the Skateboard Park was about the only permanent structure, but Traveling Carnivals which still pop up in the Sudley area of Prince William have not been back in Fairfax with the exception of the Fairfax Fair in many years.

Motorcycle gang rumble shut it down? Papermoon Strip club took over event? It's Springfield what do you expect. That entire area has gone down hill since 2000.
