I think the place is great and I wish I lived or worked near one. I haven't had one in 6 months or so, but they used to be under 5 bucks a pop, and they weren't some over-sized, slopped together mess that you get at other places. It was the perfect size sandwich for lunch and pretty delicious. The one I used to get was called the Wreck, I think.

Man, I miss that place now that you've mentioned it. It's not shitty like Quizno's, try it out sometime.

Quiznos is decent if you get one of their $9.00 subs. NINE BUCKS for a sandwich?? LMAO!

Potbelly sounds good - I may have to check them out. Thanks

Yeah, Quizno's is a ripoff for even half the price, and their store in Rosslyn is sorta creepy and dirty lookin, I hate going in there. Potbelly's sandwiches are smaller, cheaper, and much better quality. If they put a Potbelly around Tysons I would go there at least once a week.

Potbelly rocks! Nice size sandwich for about $5...I agree that the Wreck is very good and my personal favorite. They also have very tasty milkshakes. There is one in Fairfax Corner and a new location in Fairfax City. The line tends to move pretty fast, even during busy periods unless you get stuck by someone who cannot order a simple sandwich.

As someone who travels a lot I was very pleased to see locations open at Dulles in Terminal B (near the Air Tran and Delta gates) and in Terminal C. I tend to fly around meal times and would rather bring my own food than try to guess what might be available on the plane. A Potbelly sub, chocolate shake and a bag of chips for less than $10 works for me. It does, of course, tend to make my seatmates jealous, but they could have done the same thing.

potbellys is great - i was at the massey building the other day, and havn't been down that way in months and was pleased to see the put one up on chain bridge rd by main street / near the old courthouse. as far as quiznos goes, they really do make a good sub, but their prices are absurd. if they were cheaper, that place's business would be insane.

Potbelly is higher class in a way.
The one in downtown dc is really busy all the time.

Quizno's prices are high largely because the franchisees pay absurdly high fees to the corporate parent for everything from supplies to advertising. While a lot of people will argue that people should enter into a franchise agreement (or any contract) with full knowledge and understanding of the costs, I think that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye.

There are a bunch of internet message boards on this topic and I do think that the owners are getting screwed. I was talking to an owner about this a couple of months ago and he thought that they could drop prices by $1-2 per item across the board if they were able to use third-party suppliers and have a better co-op advertising deal.

Potbelly is the best. They put a new one on 123 in downtown fairfax. It's across the street from Auld Shebeen where there's no fucking parking at all.

I've eaten at Potbelly a couple of times and haven't been too impressed. I guess it is better than Subway, but what isn't?

They also have 12 locations in DC.

Potbelly's is a half step above dog food.

Try Santini's in Oakton (123)/Sterling (rt7)

Yeah Subway isnt the best, but they don't charge up the ass like quiznos. Nothing at quiznos is worth 9 bucks...They think they revolutionized the fucking sandwich by putting it under a broiler...

Potbelly's is okay...but not worth the hassle (parking.etc) IMO.

I grab a Wegman's sub about once a week...good and cheap...about 5 bucks. All subs now available as wraps! But I go on weekdays...Weg's is also not worth the hassle at peak hours and weekends.

I use to love quiznos until I flound out that the subs got, MED classic Italian, has almost 1000 calories, and that's not even the largest one. And to the best of my knowledge they don't publish their nutritional info, wonder why.
Potbellys is really good, but with shit parking in fairfax city and other locations farther away, don't go there often

Is Santini's really that good?? It is built in the old Friendly's resturaunt...

On the subject, the absolute BEST Deal on a sandwich I got was a place called Harolds.

Harolds was at exit 10, NJ Tpke. at the Holiday Inn.

If you know the place, you know how big of a portion they serve - and cheap!!!!!!!! The pickle bar is cool and the extra bread to make addl. sandwiches since the portions are so large.

...makes me want to take a drive - I can be there in 3.5 hrs.

Yeah man Santini's is legit. The one at the old Friendlys is somewhat new, but the one is Sterling has been around for a bit. It reminds me of the good sub shops in Jersey/Philly...Great place, you get your moneys worth.

It's ok - I like Wegman's subs better, but Potbelly's does have *awesome* milkshakes (although a bit overpriced, IMO).

Potbelly is OK. Not my favorite but not bad either.

Quizno's kicks ass and they know it....which is why they charge $10 for a sandwich.

Subway is only good when you make it unhealthy, like with double meat and double cheese.

I'll have to try Santini's when I'm in their 'hood.
